Coffee & Bark Hazel Park: The Story Behind Our Second Location

When Coffee & Bark first opened in Berkley in June 2023, we knew we were creating more than a coffee shop. We wanted to build a place where great coffee, dogs, and community naturally came together.

Over time, we began noticing a pattern. More and more guests were making the drive from Hazel Park to visit us in Berkley. They’d stop in for their morning coffee, spend time in BarkEasy with their dogs, or settle in to work remotely for a few hours before heading home.

That told us something.

Hazel Park wasn’t simply a neighboring city. It was already part of the Coffee & Bark family—and the natural place for our next chapter.

Why Hazel Park?

When we began exploring where our second location should be, Hazel Park kept rising to the top.

We were already welcoming so many guests from the area, and we saw a city full of momentum. New businesses were opening, neighbors were investing in the community, and there was a genuine excitement about where Hazel Park was headed. Rather than waiting until that growth was complete, we wanted to become part of it from the beginning.

Most importantly, we wanted to make Coffee & Bark more accessible to the guests who had already been supporting us. Bringing Coffee & Bark to Hazel Park felt less like opening somewhere new and more like bringing it home to a community that had already embraced us.

More Than a Coffee Shop

Coffee & Bark has never been just about serving coffee.

From day one, our vision has been to create places where people feel comfortable staying. Whether you’re catching up with friends, working remotely, meeting with clients, reading a book, or relaxing with your dog nearby, we’ve always believed a coffee shop should be more than somewhere to grab a drink. It should be somewhere you genuinely enjoy spending time.

That philosophy guided every decision we made while designing our Hazel Park location.

A Space for People and Their Dogs

At the heart of the Coffee & Bark experience is BarkEasy, our dedicated indoor dog-friendly space.

Rather than limiting guests and their pups to an outdoor patio, BarkEasy gives them a comfortable place to enjoy coffee together year-round. Guests simply place their order from their table using a QR code, and our team delivers everything directly to them so they can stay with their dog while following health department guidelines.

It’s one of the features that makes Coffee & Bark unique—and one of the things guests tell us they love most.

Grand Opening Day

Although Coffee & Bark Hazel Park first opened its doors on November 8, 2025, we officially celebrated our Grand Opening on June 5, 2026.

Friends, families, longtime guests, and plenty of four-legged visitors stopped in throughout the day to celebrate with us. We were honored to welcome members of the Hazel Park community, including the mayor, city officials, and the Madison Heights Hazel Park Chamber of Commerce for our ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The day was filled with conversations, laughter, wagging tails, and the excitement of celebrating this milestone with the community that had already embraced us.

Seeing guests immediately make themselves at home reminded us why we started Coffee & Bark in the first place.

Built for Community

Although our Grand Opening was an important milestone in our Hazel Park journey, it was never the finish line.

Since opening, we’ve continued welcoming guests looking for more than just great coffee. Some stop in to work remotely. Others reserve our coworking and private event spaces for meetings, celebrations, networking events, and community gatherings. Many simply come to spend time with friends while their dogs relax nearby in BarkEasy.

Those moments are exactly what we hoped this space would become—a place where people feel welcome, conversations happen naturally, and community grows one visit at a time.

Looking Ahead

Opening a second location is both exciting and humbling. Every person who walked through our Berkley doors, recommended Coffee & Bark to a friend, attended one of our events, or chose to support a small local business helped make Hazel Park possible.

For that, we’re incredibly grateful.

As we continue growing, our mission remains exactly the same:

Serve exceptional coffee.

Welcome every guest.

Celebrate every dog.

And continue creating spaces where community happens naturally.

Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to keep building it together.
